Your voice is YOU…

Studying voice with me begins with exploring the relationship between you, your voice, and the rest of your body and then building a foundation of trust within yourself. This involves learning how your body is designed to support your singing and working within the reality of that design so that you can instantly respond to and implement your artistic desires at any given moment.

After each lesson, you will leave with concrete tools to use in your practice and in your singing so that you become your own best voice teacher. I want you to sound as fantastic outside of my studio as you do inside of it which means teaching you how to identify your needs and then enabling you to give yourself whatever it is that you need. You will learn how to work with the voice you have on any given day in any given moment and how to build an adaptable singing technique that grows with you as your body changes over time.

I work with students of all ages and ability levels to build your voice with you to the best of my ability. Your entire self is welcome and needed and allowed to explore, experiment, and make mistakes. Perfection is never a requirement and progress is the goal. The study of singing is never finished because YOU are never finished and I am so excited to help you learn and grow and sing with your fullest self.

FAQs:

  • I generally recommend taking weekly lessons (especially if you’ve never taken lessons before or are working toward a specific goal), however, you can take lessons as frequently or infrequently as you wish. You can start or stop at any time!

  • I have taught students age 4 to age 80! I don’t think it’s ever too early or too late to work on your voice and make progress

  • Nope! The fundamentals of singing are the same regardless of style and my goal for my students is for you to have as many options with your voice as you’d like. To that end, I primarily teach classical singing, music theater, jazz, and pop music. Join the vocal chameleon club with me and learn how to sing more than one way!

  • I teach in person in both New York City and San Diego as well as online students around the world through zoom. Both in person lessons and zoom lessons are equally effective so it’s really a matter of scheduling and what works best for you. Most of my students work in a hybrid format where we’ll meet in person as time permits and on zoom when we’re not in the same location.

Student Reviews:

There are good voice teachers, there are great voice teachers, and then there's Tasha. Tasha took my voice "down to the studs" and helped rebuild it into the voice I always wanted it to be: professional, but also true to who I am. I attribute most of my vocal success to Tasha's vocal coaching. Thank you, Tasha!

Tasha is apt to come up with a novel solution to a particular issue.  For me, she focused on how to use support for singing.  Later, she helped me to maintain an open flow of air space to reach lower pitches.  I always learned something new and important after working with Tasha.
